ARTS FOR SOCIAL CHANGES

ARTS EDUCATION

Globe International has won grant competition on capacity building called by Arts and Culture Program of OSI- Budapest and runs the following projects.

  • Survey and round table: Arts Education (Mongolian)

    Survey was aimed at giving an overall picture of arts education in Mongolia. Survey involved
    schools, institutes, universities, arts organizations and NGO’s working on arts and child issues. Survey conducted among 1487 students and teachers, 25 representatives from arts organizations and NGO’s. Team consisted from 6 people worked on preparation, collection and entry cleaning of data and produced report. Report was presented in the round table held on 3 October of 2003 in “Lobby” center. 32 participants discussed the report and contributed their opinions.
    As a result of the survey and round table, Recommendation to launch the Government Program on public art education was drafted by Mr. B.Sumya, Ph.D.

  • TV Game for Children " Globe"

    Based on Arts Education survey Globe International has launched new children program in cooperation with Studio "Education" of Mongolian National Radio and TV. Goal is to support the children's talents and abilities and contribute to development of aestic feeling.

    Objectives:
    - Assist children in understadning arts and creative works
    - Strengthening children's knowledge on music and painting and assist to gain new knowledge and obtain information
    - Provide an opportunity to develop self- expression and self-confidence

    15 TV games and this year 5 programs were produced and aired.

  • Newspaper in Arts Education

    Globe International is running the project in cooperation with a newspaper " World of Arts" Newspaper in Education (NIE) program is the name of an educational partnership between the newspaper industry and participating school systems. The reach of NIE has expanded tremendously over the decades in the world. Globe International first introduced NIE in 1999 with financial support of World Association of Newspapers and decided to use the method for its community based action programs.

    Project immediate objectives are:
    - Use newspaper as new arts educational source
    - Provide teachers and students of secondary schools with better knowledge on arts
    - Provide new and updated information through news columns
    - Offer the children to meet their favorite celebrities
    - Enable the children to use their knowledge obtained during classes of music and painting in their everyday life
    - Heighten teachers’ interest in new teaching techniques
Project team had developed an information strategy for NIE pages and newspaper " World of Arts" runs 4 NIE pages in its each issue. In 2003, in total 56 materials in 4 pages of 4 issues have been published and reached 8000 readers- school pupils.
